Harold L. Silas Scholarship
Traviss Technical College would like to invite students to our Spring Open House, Thursday, April 26th. Open House will be 8:00-3:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM.
All parents and students are invited to attend. We will have guided tours for specific programs and for the whole campus. If you are interested in bringing a group, please respond via email. Attached is a flyer for our Open House. Please print and give out as needed.

Traviss Technical College is currently taking applications for the upcoming school year.
For All Seniors: We are taking applications for fall enrollment. Seniors will need the following items for registration:
- Student application
- Transcripts: (a scholastic record will be allowed if the senior has not completed requirements yet)
- Florida Residency form w/ two proofs of residence (has to be parent/guardian residency)
- Application Fee: $30
- Apply for a FASFA
There have been many questions concerning the TABE test. Students who graduate with a 2.0 do not have to take the TABE test for most of our programs. Dental Assisting and Surgical Tech still require the TABE test prior to enrollment. The LPN program requires the TEAS test prior to enrollment.
For High School Students: We are taking application for fall enrollment. Students will need to do the following:
- Complete application (if under 18, must be signed by a parent/guardian.)
All applications will be reviewed after Spring break and students will notification of acceptance via mail. All of our programs are on a first come first serve basis for high school enrollment. Many of our programs fill up fast, so please encourage your high school students to apply soon.

On Saturday, March 10, at 9:30 AM Universal Technical Institute in Orlando is hosting our annual Scholarship Competition & Open House. It’s not too late for seniors to apply for UTI and scholarships!
UTI and Penske Automotive Group have teamed up to create a national scholarship program that will award nearly $500,000in scholarships to high school seniors pursuing higher education at UTI. Individual awards will be worth up to $2,500.
Polk State College Open House events at Winter Haven Campus and Lakeland Campus. This is a great opportunity for your students to learn about the different degrees and programs offered at Polk State College. We will also have student clubs represented and the college resources will be showcased. Students and their parents can participate in hands on activities, tour the campus, and visit the bookstore. A three-credit-hour scholarship will be raffled off during each event.

SSF provides rent-free scholarship housing for qualified incoming or current undergraduate and graduate students demonstrating academic achievement (a minimum 3.0 cumulative state GPA), financial need (as identified on the FAFSA), and good character. With our scholarship, students save an average of $13,000 per year. We accept applicants who are in any year of their undergraduate or graduate degree programs, but to make the most of this opportunity we recommend that students who will be enrolling in or transferring to one of our above mentioned institutions should apply for our housing scholarship the semester before they arrive.
The Bailey Family Foundation awards a $20,000 scholarship to one senior at each high school in Hillsborough, Polk & Pinellas County. Kimberly Czabaj has already mailed flyers to each school and will do so again in February, but I attached a flyer to this email. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is February 28, 2018. The winner will receive a $20,000 scholarship ($5,000/year for 4 years) to attend any regionally accredited institution in the country. PRECO’s charitable foundation, Operation Round Up, just released their annual College Scholarship Application.
The application is attached:
- The applicant must reside in a home that receives electric service from Peace River Electric
- The deadline is February 28, 2018
- Scholarships are not limited to graduating high school seniors. All ages may apply, including those already attending college and those who wish to obtain a degree or pursue a new career path.
Florida Southwestern State College offers bachelor and associate degrees and college credit certificates in 45 academic programs. Graduates of the Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene program have had 100% pass rates on the national examination for the past 17 years; graduates of the Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology program have had 100% pass rates on the certification examination for the past eight years.

Optimist International Essay Contest
Deadline: January – February 2018
$2,500 for 9th -12th grade students. Write an essay on “Can Society Function Without Respect?” and submit it to your local Optimist Club.

$1,000 or $4,000 for young women ages 16-19 who demonstrate superior leadership skills and a commitment to public service and civic causes.
