Tis the Season of Christmas Songs By Victoria Wahlers
The Christmas season is now upon us, which means putting up the tree, the lights, and singing Christmas Carols. Christmas Carols have been around since 1223 when St. Francis of Assisi started his nativity plays in Italy; which represented the birth of Jesus Christ. Over many years the carols spread to other countries, including America. Because of Francis, many artists since have released their own holiday songs, that we listen to today. Though it is quite difficult to say which song is the best, LG students were asked what their favorite Christmas Carol was and why. “Santa Clause is Coming to Town is my favorite,” said Hadley Wieser, “it puts me in the Christmas spirit.” Allie Bevaqcua explained her favorite was, “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer because of how iconic the song is to the holiday season, and I enjoyed the movie as well.” Other favorite Christmas Carols include, “Let it Snow,” “All I Want for Christmas is You,” and the list goes on and on. Everyone most likely has a favorite Christmas song that has been passed through generations of holidays. Overall, Christmas Carols are the key to having a happy holiday. They put everyone in the spirit of Christmas. Merry Christmas to all!
