Florida has recurrently been recognized for their durability and safety within all 34 electric utilities, the facilities that sell and distribute electricity, since the devastation of hurricane Irma. On March 10th, 18 power companies received a Safety Award from the Florida Municipal Electric Association during the FMEA Annual Florida Lineman Competition Awards Banquet. Lakeland Electric was ranked 2nd place in Category E, which mean that 950,000-2,499,999 hours were spent working. The less hours spent working the better because it shows that their utilities are durable and do not need to be worked on as much. Orlando ranked 1st in Category E, Tallahassee ranked 1st in Category
