FCA: Athletics Hidden Treasure by Katherine Butcher
The stereotype for athletes includes arrogance and irresponsibility; however, Lake Gibson athletes have shown they are a cut above. In fact, over 300 student athletes showed up to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting Thursday, October 4.
FCA was originally designed for young athletes to proclaim their Christian faith in order to change youth culture. They were intended to serve as leaders within their individual sports teams, but over time the club has shown progression by involving several people other than just athletes. Pastor Erik Oliveras, of Free Life Chapel, said, “FCA is for students to stand up in their school and not be afraid to be a Christian.” FCA meets during lunch on first and last Thursday of every month in the gym.
Stand up for your beliefs and become a part of the positive athletic culture of Lake Gibson high school.
