Don’t Judge a Student or Teacher by Their Cover By Cora Keahl
Here at LGHS, students and faculty spent the week of January 28th celebrating a spirit week dedicated to literature and the characters that make up some of the most famous stories. Ms. Reynolds and a few of her student aides came up with ideas for the special week, the first day was favorite character day. Principal Vann could be found dressed up as Harry Potter while Ms. Reynolds appeared as a student from the Slytherin house. On the other side of fandoms, Wendy Phillips was dressed up as Frodo Baggins, a hobbit, from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The following days were poetry day, throwback day, “Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover” Day, and comfy reading day. Poetry Day was celebrated by English teachers basing the majority of their lesson plan around poetry. Mrs. Muehlberger, Burdick, and Ritchie all participated with great enthusiasm. One of the most anticipated days was Throwback Day, with Mrs. Donahay dressed up in her favorite Dr. Seuss attire portraying Thing One and Two and Jonathan Davis as a unicorn.
Literacy spirit week was an overall success for the students and faculty that participated. Hopefully, those that dressed up will continue to show their appreciation for literature and their English teachers.
