Braves Great Acheivment By Emily Pierce

February is a special month for many students at Lake Gibson. Many celebrations take place regarding the cherished holiday, Valentine’s Day. Two groups of students at LG made these celebrations possible. The Ukulele Club sent “Ukulele Grams” to students and staff members to make them feel the spirit of Valentine’s Day. Also, the Audio Club delivered singing “Valentine Grams” to our staff, students, and outside of school in the Lakeland community to make individuals feel loved and appreciated. Without the help of our students, Valentine’s Day would not feel as special.

Besides celebrating a popular holiday, great achievement was reached this month. Lake Gibson was chosen for Channel 10 WTSP School of the Week. A pep rally was held on February 22, where Channel 10 recognized our school. Our students represented Lake Gibson with pride and enthusiasm. Along with the pep rally, the “Top 10” board and “High Five” signs in our school highlighted the show. Anyone can view the footage on LG’s social media sites, if interested.

Athletes have enjoyed a fresh start to a new season for select sports during the month of February. Sports including Baseball, Softball, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Track, Tennis, and Weightlifting. LG cannot wait for these athletes to tackle their season.

Overall, February was filled with divine experiences and happenings. Principal Vann’s words of advice to students this month are: “Remember to continue to wear your ID’s, stay in dress code, and be engaged in your classes, for testing is right around the corner. Stay involved and continue to be the best Brave you can be!”
